Kubrat Pulev wins championship belt after victory in Sofia

Kubrat Pulev won the WBA international heavyweight title after defeating Ukraine's Igor Shevadzutsky by unanimous decision. The fight took place in front of more than 8,000 fans at the Arena Sofia. 


Pulev outclassed his opponent in the main event of the gala evening, with all three judges scoring the fight 117-111. The victory was Pulev's 31st in 34 professional fights, with three losses. For Shevadzutsky it was his second defeat in 13 fights. Kubrat Pulev said after his win over Igor Shevadzutsky that the Ukrainian was not on his level.


After the decision, Mahmoud Charr, who currently holds the WBA title, entered the ring. It was Charr who was supposed to fight Pulev, but he was injured at the last moment.
