Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ekaterina Zaharieva met in Sofia with her counterpart from the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria Abdelkader Messahel.

This has been the first visit of an Algerian foreign minister for the past 34 years.

The two officials have agreed that unused opportunities for cooperation between Bulgaria and Algeria in economy, tourism, culture and education should be recompensed and have mapped out steps for using this potential.

Minister Messahel has remarked that the Algerian people know Bulgaria quite well due to the excellent work of thousands of Bulgarian specialists from various spheres of economy who have worked in his country.
