Jean-Claude Juncker specified that the quantity of EU-Turkey problems had not stopped growing but the EU was willing to strengthen cooperation with Ankara.
In turn Donald Tusk said: "I am aware that it will not be an easy meeting. Certainly a number of complicated issues will be discussed in Varna including developments in Turkey and its actions in Syria. Still, we are neighbors and we need to find a way to talk to each other openly and cooperate in areas of common interest."
