Famous US novelist Elizabeth Kostova to present her novel The Shadow Land in Varna on 18 June

World-acclaimed American writer Elizabeth Kostova has recounted yet another enthralling story. Her debut novel The Historian in 2005 was among the bestsellers and even topped the New York Times chart. It is curious that her new novel, The Shadow Land, revives a tragic story from Bulgaria’s recent past. The protagonist, American Alexandra Boyd, arrives to Bulgaria determined to atone her guilt for her brother’s disappearance. Why Bulgaria? Bulgaria is the mysterious corner of the world that had won the adventurous heart of her brother. What is the cost of survival under a harsh political regime, what about human dignity and the authentic love of art? These are only some of the questions that Elizabeth Kostova’s novel raises. Time will tell whether The Shadow Land will repeat the success of her debut novel released in 5 million copies. Published in more than 40 countries of the world The Historian was in the top ten for the year on the Best-Selling Books List of USA Today.For it in 2005 Elizabeth Kostova received the Quill Award for Debut Author of the Year.
