At least two football players from Bulgarian clubs to appear at Russia World Cup

Although Bulgaria’s national side failed to qualify for a fifth consecutive World Cup in football finals (along with three European Cup finals) Bulgarian fans will keep their fingers crossed for their foreign favorites. For Bulgarian football there is some consolation left that players from the Bulgaria’s First Professional Football League will be able to play at the Russia World Cup which opened on Thursday. In fact they are two – the Icelandic pillar in FC Levski’s defense Hólmar Eyjólfsson and the militant Polish half of FC Ludogorets Jacek Goralski. There was a chance for the Nigerian back of FC Lokomotiv Plovdiv Stephen Eze but the head coach of Nigeria did not recruit him for the World Cup lineup. FC Ludogorets forward Jakub Swierczok has also failed to be selected for Poland’s national side despite the seven goals he scored in Bulgaria’s First Professional Football League this spring.
