Czech businessman Petr Kellner is buying the biggest Bulgarian television group bTV.
Kellner’s PPF Group has announced that it is acquiring bTV’s parent company - Central European Media Enterprises (СМЕ). CME on its part announced that the transaction is for USD 2.1 billion. The acquisition will be concluded by mid-2020. Before that it will have to be approved by the CME’s shareholders’ meeting, the antitrust commissions in the respective countries and by the European Commission. CME is owner of bTV and of the TV groups in the Czech Republic (Nova), in Romania (PRO TV), in Slovakia Markíza) and in Slovenia (POP TV).
