Photo: Green Balkans

One of the rarest birds in Bulgaria, the black vulture named Ultron, was found shot dead by poachers in the area of Kardzhali (Southern Bulgaria), Green Balkans reported. It was donated to Bulgaria by Belgian zoo Planckendael.

The Green Balkans organization has been working for more than 30 years for the return of this rare and majestic species to this country. Ultron, who did not live to see his first birthday, was extremely valuable for Bulgaria and Europe. That is why killing the bird is a huge blow to nature in this country and in the Balkans in general, the organization points out.
