Bulgaria’s total exports in the first 5 months of 2020 has decreased with 8.1% to nearly EUR 10.5 billion as compared to the same period in 2019 which was due to the coronavirus epidemic, preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute show. Imports shrank by 12.7% to nearly EUR 11.5 billion. Bulgaria’s exports to the EU fell 7.7% to nearly EUR 7.1 billion as compared to the first five months of 2019. Exports to third countries declined with 8.9% to nearly EUR 4 billion. Meanwhile, imports from the EU decreased with 13.2% to nearly EUR 7.1 billion and imports from non-EU countries shrank with 11.9% to nearly EUR 4.6 billion.
