Bulgarian Minister of Economy, Nikola Stoyanov, has ordered Bulgaria's trade representatives abroad to collect data on the prices of more than 20 basic food products. The list of products includes flour, oil, rice, beans, sugar, milk, butter, cheese, eggs, meat. Information will be updated weekly. This will help in the analysis on the formation of the price of product from the producer to the end user, according to the ministry.
The attachés will monitor prices in large food chains in seven European countries – Germany, Austria, France, Romania, Greece, Czech Republic, Croatia, as well as in smaller shops in these countries. The data will be processed and compared tothe prices in shops in Bulgaria. All information will be public. The aim is to limit unfair practices and speculation conducted by traders.
