Orthodox Christians celebrate Easter Monday

Today is Easter Monday, the first day of the Bright Week. Like the Holy Week, this one is also connected with the greatest event for Christians - Christ's Resurrection. It is called Bright Week or Renewal Week because of the light that Easter brings to humanity. The church services are solemn and the chants emphasize the greatness of the most important event for the Christian world.

During these days, believers visit the church and receive Holy Communion in order to unite with the Savior and feel the essence of the holiday. In the days after Easter, the post-holiday period lasts 40 days, until the Ascension of Christ. The holiday greeting among Christians during these days is “Christ is Risen!” The answer is "Indeed He is Risen!”
