The towns of Ruse and Varna are to welcome the legendary train "Orient Express" for the second time this year. It will first arrive in Ruse on Tuesday, August 29. The train is expected to arrive at the Central Railway Station in Varna by 17.30 pm.
Traditionally, Bulgaria’s marine capital is to welcome guests according to an old Bulgarian custom - with pita bread and patterned salt, reports Bgtourism.bg. More than 10 tour guides from the Union of Bulgarian Tour Guides, who speak English, French, German, Italian and Spanish, will accompany the guests of "Orient Express" on a tourist program in Varna prepared especially for them.
The historic train travels from Paris to Istanbul. It made its first trip back in 1883. Over the years, world celebrities such as Elizabeth II, Franz Joseph, Leo Tolstoy, Marlene Dietrich and Charles de Gaulle travelled onboard the train.
Before World War II, during its passage through Bulgaria, the train was personally driven by Tsar Boris III.
