A space agency is to be established in Bulgaria, Minister of Innovation and Growth Milena Stoycheva said in the coastal town of Varna. She expressed hope that this will happen as early as 2024. The project is expected to attract leading companies and educational institutions.
Minister Stoycheva was among the guests at the opening of the new high-tech laboratory for space technologies at the Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy in Varna. The laboratory marks the beginning of the academy's new Space Engineering and Technology program. The facility allows simultaneous training of up to 50 cadets. The laboratory is equipped with cutting-edge technologies, explained Raycho Raychev, director of the company that donated all the equipment. The training of the so-called "space cadets" at the Naval Academy will begin in October, said Rear Admiral Kiril Mihaylov.
