Kiril Despodov named Bulgarian Footballer of the Year

Kiril Despodov was voted Bulgaria’s Footballer of the Year for the fourth time in his career. Despodov won the vote with 317 points. During the past season, he scored 19 goals and made 22 assists, playing a key role in winning the Bulgarian Cup and the 12th consecutive title for Ludogorets. In September, he was transferred to the Greek football club PAOK for EUR 3.5 million. He quickly became a key player for his new team, which is just two points behind the leader AEK. Meanwhile, PAOK reached the quarterfinals in the Conference League.

Ilia Gruev who plays for Leeds United came second and the third place went to Ivaylo Chochev (Ludogorets).

The special award went to Stiliyan Petrov. After the Match of Hope in Sofia, he donated medical equipment worth more than EUR 290,000 to 10 cancer hospitals in Bulgaria.
