From Here to Eternity will take us singer Miroslava Katsarova and Miroslav Turiyski - pianist, composer and arranger and the BNR Big Band in their concert on 21st March at 19:00 in Studio 1 of the Radio. The concert will be conducted by Antoni Donchev. The varied programme includes original pieces written for Miroslava Katsarova over the years, mostly by Miroslav Turiyski, most of them based on her own lyrics in Bulgarian. Others are well-known compositions such as "Smile" by Charlie Chaplin and "Don't Explain" by Billie Holiday. Speaking about the arrangements created especially for this concert, Mira says:

"All the arrangements are by Miroslav Turiski, which was a big challenge for me because he is a very unconventional musician. He didn't quite put these songs into the context of mainstream big band music, because it's a very specific sound - it requires a different kind of arrangement, even a different kind of vocal phrasing. So Miroslav Turiski has once again come up with very curious, surprising and, as always, clever arrangements.

Mira and Miro, both key figures in the jazz scene not only in their home town of Plovdiv but nationwide, have been making music together for more than ten years.

With the concert From Here to Eternity, both musicians have broadened their artistic horizons, relishing the chance to work with the Bulgarian National Radio Big Band, as Miroslava Katsarova explains:

"Working with the Bulgarian National Radio Big Band is very pleasant for me, because on the one hand the conductor Antoni Donchev is one of the best Bulgarian jazz musicians - I personally have great respect and admiration for him.

On the other hand, we are friends and I know that he is very professional, but also very generous. Because we work out each of the songs in great detail, and at the same time the rehearsals go with a lot of humour. Most of the musicians in the band are our friends, quite a few of them from Plovdiv, by the way. So the working atmosphere is one of the best I could dream of. I'm looking forward to this concert on 21 March - the day we usually celebrate the first spring, so besides good music we will also celebrate spring and new life.
You are very welcome!"
