For two-thirds of Bulgarians the most important problems are unemployment (39%) and the cost of living (26%), according to a representative Eurobarometer survey from February 2024. Healthcare is the next significant concern for 28% of respondents, while 18% are worried about problems in education. Depopulation and companies leaving the country's regions is a concern for 15%. Crime, immigration, housing, environment and climate change are not among the leading concerns of Bulgarians.
A growing number of people rate their situation as better than 2 years ago and are optimistic about the next 12 months. This is not the case only in the Northwest and the Central North regions.
