In the production and sale of bicycles, Bulgaria is among the top 10 countries of the EU, the press centre of the Ministry of Transport and Communications has announced.
During their informal meeting in Brussels, 3-4 April, the transport ministers of the EU countries signed a declaration promoting cycling, committing to developing the full potential of bicycles as a means of transportation, and to their important role in urban mobility. Addressing her counterparts from the EU, Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Anna Mihova-Natova cited, as an example, a number of Bulgarian cities which have already developed programmes for promoting bicycle transport, for example bike rentals, bicycle parking and bike lanes. These measures are supported mostly by European funding.
